My name is Gloria.  A friend of mine told me about Tiny Stars, a (501)(c)(3) non-profit agency. Tiny Stars’ mission is to expose and stop commercial sexual exploitation of children by catching child predators. The methods they  employ are the only effective way to protect children everywhere and are lauded by both the FBI and ICE.  My mission is to help Tiny Stars by creating a network of people who want to help put child molestors behind bars. There are several ways you can make a difference. Enough is enough, lets join forces, all of us using the resources we have and protect our kids.

Just thinking out loud here, but shouldn’t the net be cast wider to also challenge those in the media and industry that sexualise young children through promotional activities and clothing design?

Whilst not in the same league as preadatory or opportunist child abusers they are surely contributing to the problem …

    Thanks Alasdair,
that is a great point. However, and this is just my opinion, if the net is cast to wide we would risk not catching the big fish.
Tiny Stars is very focused on this particular aspect of the issue because of the power of supply and demand. If those who are creating the demand for sex with children is drastically decreased the supply for innocent children for rape will also decrease. Pedophiles don’t care what a child is wearing near as much as they do about what size they are. Most pedophiles were molested as children and usually want children who are the age they were when they were raped/molested. It is not so much about physical attraction as power, control, and hurting someone the way they were hurt. The best way to stop the disease is to stop those that are sick with it.

By the way thanks for the helpful hint about my linking problem. I followed your directions and I am going now to see if it works.
    More later, Yes?

  3. I just posted about Tiny Stars on this piece re: Kevin Kline’s upcoming movie called “Trade”…I’d love to interview ALL of you for Shaping Youth, and see how we can bring this issue to the forefront!

I’ve just represented the U.S. at Women Leaders for the World (www.gwln.org) on behalf of Shaping Youth, and met a fabulous young woman from Pakistan doing GREAT work in this area. (see bios: Sarah Assad, working with orphans/street kids, etc.)

I just sent her your link too, and told her we must all find a way to blend the ‘media/marketing’ issue with the celeb/cause zeitgeist and see if we can vault this into the global dialogue on a much larger scale.

Gloria, can you ping me for an interview, please? I’m also on Skype as Shaping Youth, if that’s easier…Looking forward to connect on this very important topic.
