Strategic moves

May 15, 2007

I’ve been talking to Jake Collins, founder of Tiny Stars. He explained his strategy for catching child molesters. It makes sense.

Thousands of american men go over seas every year to have sex with children. Why? because it is easier to get away with it than if they stayed in the States. In the past there were no laws in place to prosecute them in the states if they committed this crime out of the country. Thanks to the Protect Act, a law signed into law by President
Bush, that has changed.  Tiny Stars is the only agency using the Protect Act to it’s fullest advantage. They are catching americans who rape children, on both sides of the border, outside of the U.S..  These are people who molest children in the states as well, but with more stealth. When they are caught in another country their sentence is harsher then when they are caught here.

When they are caught molesting a child under 14 they get a life sentence. For under 18, 1st offence- 20 years. 2nd offencs -life sentence.

Often people want to know when they give to  Tiny Stars that it will help their community. If a company in Texas sponsors an agent in Costa Rica  that agent is likely to catch a pedophile from Texas. In fact they are likely to catch something like 50 ped0philes from the states in a year.  For example, if a company sponsors an agent in their community in Texas (or where ever)  for the same amount of money they will catch pedophiles and it is definitely effective. Just not as effective. For one thing it cost more to hire agents in the states and for another the perps are more careful. They might ended up catching more like five in one year.

Tiny Stars will work both ways, depending on what a company wants but donors should be aware of how to most effectively use their money to impact this issue in a big way.

Tiny Stars talks to companies and individuals about sponsoring undercover agents who go out and get evidence against child molesters. The FBI and police have so many things to do that they are unable to put a lot of focus on this problem. However, this problem is Tiny Stars’ focus.  There are a few problems Tiny Stars runs into when talking to large corporations. One is that  often they want to  help only non-profits that are in their communities. Another is that  they want to support the non-profits that their employees choose. How can you help?

You want Tiny Stars in your community. The best way to get them there is to talk to civic organizations such as Kiwanis and ask them to look at Tiny Stars and consider starting a chapter in your community. It is similar to a neighborhood watch. People say what they see. If there is suspicion about an individual they would (anonymously if  need be) be reported  to Tiny Stars.  There would also be opportunities for volunteerism, which many corporations support by paying their employees for time volunteered. Having a chapter in your community would create opportunities for companies to help protect your children. If a company wants to give to an organization in their community they would be able to do that by sponsoring an agent to be in their community.  So starting or initiating a Tiny Stars chapter would give them an avenue to give to Tiny Stars locally.

Another thing would be to speak to your employer/employee’s about Tiny Stars and what they are doing and what you want and are willing to do to help catch child predators.

I have been reading blogs of people who are horrified and want to know what they can do. Here is where the answer lies. Please go to Tiny Stars website to learn more about what they are doing.   There is so much information about actions we can take and how Tiny Stars is helping the FBI and police enforcement in bringing child molesters to justice. I want to keep each post relatively short but there is so much more that can be done it is difficult to not write it all at once. Please keep coming back here to learn more and please send people you know both to this blog and to Tiny Stars website.

Let’s get ‘em!

In my last blog I told you that you can own a spy. But what you don’t know is that when an individual or business sponsors an agent they get credit for the conviction of a perp that is a result of the work that agent does! Imagine a business whose employees pool together to sponsor an agent for a month or even a week. What a difference they would make. Go to www.tinystars.org and click on sponsors to see who is giving.

Oh yeah, while you are there make sure to click on Oprah to hear what she has to say.  Jake Collins (founder of Tiny Stars) has been on Oprah talking about the growing problem of human trafficking.  While you are on the site you might want to look at the photos of wanted child molesters. You might know one of them and Oprah is offering 100,000.00 to anyone who leads to the capture of any of them. You can also add your face and name to the map on the site as someone who will say what you see. Or just your name if you prefer.

Let’s stop ‘em!

Gloria

My sister told me that she always wanted to be a bounty hunter, but when she thought about everything that that involved she knew it was just to dangerous.  Helping Tiny Stars is a safer way of getting the bad guys.

Just for the record, Tiny Stars agents DO NOT make arrest. Tiny Stars uses ex-FBI, ex-KGB and experienced private investigators as spy’s.  They will spy on suspected or known but not caught, pedophiles. Tiny Stars agents gather evidence and when they have proof they turn it over to the FBI or ICE. It is easy to see how this is effective in putting child molesters behind bars.  Don’t you wish you could hire an agent to go out and bust a perpetrator?  Oh ya! You can. Individuals, businesses, civic groups, schools, well everyone really, can give money specifically for sponsoring  agents.

Personally I am fascinated at one innovative way Tiny Stars has come up with to give us more perps per dollar. Thousands of American men are crossing our borders into other countries to have sex with children. It has been easy to get away with it up until now. President Bush signed into law  that Americans, caught having sex with children in another country, can be prosecuted in the United States. Tiny Stars is using this tool to catch american perpetrators.

Think about it. Child predators have to use stealth to do what they do in America. They have to be careful because if they are caught they are put away and labeled for life.  They can relax a bit in some other countries. Countries where poverty drives people to do the unthinkable. Countries where children are openly sold as sex toys. The tables are turned on these individuals now. Tiny Stars takes undercover agents to the streets with hidden cameras and microphones and gathers evidence against them. Solid proof. When they are picked up for having sex with a child under the age of 14 they are facing a life sentence. So you can see how these sick individuals have become sitting ducks. When they are caught abroad they are caught here too.

That is just one way Tiny Stars is working to protect children.

Please tell everyone you know about Tiny Stars and this blog. Lets lock arms together against this horrific crime and do something about. I will keep posting not only about what Tiny Stars is doing but what we can do and what we can help them do.

Tiny Stars Solutions

May 5, 2007

For every child predator that is stopped hundreds of children are protected. In the past the public has lacked the tools to stop the sick individuals who want, more than anything, to hurt our children.  Those tools are now in place. Tiny Stars is one of the most valuable resources to be made available to individuals. I encourage everyone to pick it up and use it.

The Starfish Story:
“Thousands of starfish washed ashore one night. The next morning as the sun began to scorch them a little boy running frantically along the beach began throwing them into the water so they wouldn’t die. “Don’t bother, dear,” his mother said, “what you’re doingdoesn’t make a difference.” The boy stopped for a moment and looked at the starfish in his hand. “It will make a difference to this one.”

I couldn’t have said it better. Jake Collins, founder of Tiny Stars named the organization after this story.  So many times we hear of the atrocities that are happening to children and are left with a sense of helplessness. Not here.  This is a place to find out what you can do and how you can do it. The first step is to find out not only the problem but the solution. Please visit the Tiny Stars website and be encouraged. The bad guys don’t get to win.
